1. Introduction

Welcome to WGCD Radio Station. As part of the World Jams Radio Network, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards in broadcasting, operations, and community engagement. This handbook outlines the expectations, rules, and responsibilities of every staff member, DJ, host, and volunteer.


2. Our Mission & Beliefs

3. Organizational Structure

  • Station Manager – Oversees daily operations
  • Program Director – Approves content and scheduling
  • Technical Director – Manages studio equipment and broadcast systems
  • Marketing Director – Handles promotions, sponsorships, and outreach
  • Hosts / DJs – On-air talent
  • Volunteers / Interns – Community and support staff

All staff report to the Station Manager or designated World Jams Radio Network management as applicable.


4. Operational Guidelines

  • Always arrive 15–30 minutes early for your shift.
  • Keep the studio clean and professional at all times.
  • No unauthorized guests are allowed in the studio.
  • All content must be submitted for review and approval before airing.
  • The studio is a drug-free and smoke-free environment.


5. Code of Conduct

All employees and affiliates must:

  • Maintain professional language and behavior at all times.
  • Treat colleagues and listeners with respect and courtesy.
  • Refrain from gossip, slander, or defamatory remarks.
  • Respect the station’s property and technical resources.
  • Follow all network policies and local/federal broadcasting regulations.


6. On-Air Policies

  • Pre-approval is required for all interviews, music, and segments.
  • Profanity and explicit content are prohibited. Use of a delay system is required for live content.
  • Avoid political endorsements unless approved for community PSA.
  • Always provide fair and balanced representation of topics.
  • Guests must be respectful, relevant, and appropriate for air.
  • Use proper radio etiquette and format for intros, outros, and transitions.


7. Promotions, Marketing, and Payment Policy

  • No cash transactions are to be accepted for promotions, advertising, or marketing.
  • All sales and bookings must go through the official billing system or marketing department.
  • Promotions must be contracted and recorded with receipts and terms.
  • Staff found taking cash “under the table” will be subject to immediate termination.


8. Appearance & Dress Code

  • While on duty or representing the station:
  • Business casual attire or official WGCD/World Jams gear is required.
  • No inappropriate slogans, images, or revealing attire.
  • For remote events, station-branded clothing must be worn when possible.


9. Studio Rules & Technical Use

  • Only trained personnel may operate broadcast equipment.
  • No food or drinks near control boards or computers.
  • All shows must be logged and archived properly.
  • Use of studio computers is strictly limited to station-related activities.
  • Any damage to equipment must be reported immediately.


10. Social Media & Public Representation

  • Staff must avoid controversial or offensive posts when publicly linked to the station.
  • Do not share confidential station information on social media.
  • All promotional graphics and content must be approved by the Marketing Director.
  • Personal views expressed publicly must include disclaimers and cannot reflect station opinion unless authorized.


11. Disciplinary Action & Grievances

Violations of station policy may result in the following actions:

  • Verbal Warning
  • Written Warning
  • Suspension
  • Termination



For grievances or concerns, staff should report directly to the Station Manager or file an internal Incident Report to be reviewed by World Jams management.
